You may have seen that most ISPs offer both home (residential) internet and business internet. Business internet is typically much more expensive for the speed you get, but why is that? What do you really get for the price, and why are those features good for a business? There are actually a lot of differences with business internet compared to residential internet, especially when it comes to guaranteed speeds, and accountability for the internet service provider.

Can I play video game on a business plan isp?
March 19th, 2020 at 1:12 pm
Most businesses use the regular business plan. The plans with SLAβs are way to expensive for small businesses
March 19th, 2020 at 1:50 pm
An SLA is essential otherwise you will just be a standard customer
March 19th, 2020 at 2:06 pm
Brings to a Point I've been wanting to ask you , I have a modem and a router But if I unplug the router TV , Phone an Internet will work fine , so then Should I leave the router plugged in Or keep it out ? I am not the 1 who set it up but it seems that I don't need it ? or do I ? , Just with the modem is ok but what's with the router then , You seem to be the guy to ask ? I Don't know anyone to ask ..
March 19th, 2020 at 2:24 pm
Ty TJ your so smart.
March 19th, 2020 at 3:22 pm
In our country SLA stands for Scam Level Agreement, they scam you alive on all kind of contracts.
March 19th, 2020 at 3:40 pm
In germany the isp has to guarantee a internet speed.
So i'm paying for 500mbit and i get 530mbit.
March 19th, 2020 at 4:01 pm
Hey now, I get the call center hate, but having worked one, that "troubleshooting you've already done" is because most customers don't do it. Hell, my experience working DirecTV taught me that most think "wireless" means "doesn't need electricity to run." Call center employees suck, but customers are just morons.
March 19th, 2020 at 4:58 pm
Having old copper but in area with not much internet users so i get 15/16mbit, and in some months i get a 200mbit fibre up in my house XD
March 19th, 2020 at 5:11 pm
Big problem…. If I am fine with the residential service, they do not allow me to get that at a business location even with a data cap.
March 19th, 2020 at 5:14 pm
Im lucky residental service 30 megabytes per second download
March 19th, 2020 at 5:59 pm
In my area, business accounts do not block off any ports (21, 80, 443).
March 19th, 2020 at 6:46 pm
We have a static ip with residential internet
March 19th, 2020 at 7:26 pm
In the UK they banned the term "Speed up to" term in ISP's advertisements and had to rewrite their plans, so you pretty much pay what you recieve. They made that into law sometime back in 2010 when people did checks to see which ISP were honest in their advertisements, and more than a dozen of them weren't delivering what they advertised and mis-using the terms "Speeds up to", so they fixed it, and pretty much you got cheaper fast Internet that's available for your area.
Data bandwidth caps need to go, they're stupid, and restrictive, and not needed in this day and age. Folks in the UK can get unlimited data, and a lot of areas got fibre these days so there's no need for data caps.
